ਮੈਂ ਹੀ ਸਭ ਦਾ ਪਰ ਕੌਣ ਹੈ ਮੇਰਾ (I am there for everyone, but who is there for me?)

ਦਿਲ ਰੱਖ ਦਰਿਆ ਵਰਗਾ ਮਾਂ ਨੇ ਜੋ ਸਿਖਾਇਆ ਸੀKeep your heart like a river, that is what my mum taught me.

ਕਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਮਦਦ ਸਭ ਦੀ ਧਨ ਖੁਸ਼ੀ ਦਾ ਜੋ ਕਮਾਇਆ ਸੀBy helping others, I had earned the wealth of happiness.

ਸਵਾਲ ਇਕ ਲੁਕਾਈ ਬੈਠਾ ਹੈ ਦਿਲ ਮੇਰਾOne question still sits hidden in my heart:

ਮੈਂ ਹੀ ਸਭ ਦਾ ਪਰ ਕੌਣ ਹੈ ਮੇਰਾI am there for everyone, but who is there for me?

ਹਨੇਰਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਗਮੀ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗ ਚਾਨਣ ਦਾ ਜੋ ਲਿਆਇਆ ਸੀInto the sorrow of darkness, I had brought the colors of light.

ਭੁੱਲ ਗਏ ਨੇ ਲਗਦਾ ਸਾਰੇ ਜਿਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੈਂ ਜਗਾਇਆ ਸੀIt seems all those I awakened have forgotten me now.

ਪਰਉਪਕਾਰ ਹੀ ਜੀਵਨ ਹੈ ਇਹ ਤਾਂ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਸਿਖਾਇਆ ਸੀWe were taught that selfless service itself is life.

ਪਰ ਸਵਾਲ ਅਜੇ ਵੀ ਇਕ ਲੁਕਾਈ ਬੈਠਾ ਹੈ ਦਿਲ ਮੇਰਾBut one question still stays hidden in my heart:

ਮੈਂ ਹੀ ਸਭ ਦਾ ਪਰ ਕੌਣ ਹੈ ਮੇਰਾI am there for everyone, but who is there for me?

ਮੇਰੀ ਵਾਰੀ ਆਈ ਤੇ, ਬਸ ਦੋ ਤਿੰਨ ਹੀ ਰਹਿ ਗਏWhen my turn came, only two or three stayed.

ਬਾਕੀ ਤਾਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ "ਚਲ ਕੋਈ ਨਾ ਕਹਿ ਗਏ"The rest simply said to me, "It is alright, let it go."

ਇਹੀ ਤਾਂ ਸਵਾਲ ਇਕ ਲੁਕਾਈ ਬੈਠਾ ਹੈ ਦਿਲ ਮੇਰਾThat is the very question hidden in my heart:

ਮੈਂ ਹੀ ਸਭ ਦਾ ਪਰ ਕੌਣ ਹੈ ਮੇਰਾI am there for everyone, but who is there for me?

ਹਰ ਕੋਈ ਤਾ ਬਸ ਹੀ ਕਹਿੰਦਾ ਮੈਨੂੰ "ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਹੁੰਦਾ-ਹੁੰਦਾ"Everyone keeps telling me, "This happens to everyone."

ਕੀ ਕਰ ਸਕਦੇ ਆ ਅਸੀਂ ਦਾ ਬੋਲ ਅਕਸਰ ਮੈਂ ਸੁਣਦਾ ਹੁੰਦਾI often hear the words, "What can we even do?"

ਨਾਲੇ ਤਾਂ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਦਾ ਫ਼ਲ ਤੇ ਸਭ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੁੰਦਾAnd they add, "Everyone receives the fruit of their actions."

ਤਾਹੀਓਂ ਤਾਂ ਸਵਾਲ ਇਕ ਲੁਕਾਈ ਬੈਠਾ ਹੈ ਦਿਲ ਮੇਰਾThat is why this one question stays hidden in my heart:

ਮੈਂ ਹੀ ਸਭ ਦਾ ਪਰ ਕੌਣ ਹੈ ਮੇਰਾI am there for everyone, but who is there for me?

ਅਖੀਰ ਵਿਚ ਚੇਤਾ ਆਇਆ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਹੀ ਸਭ ਦਾ ਸੀIn the end, I realized that I belonged to everyone.

ਪਰ ਦੋ ਤਿੰਨ ਨੂੰ ਛੱਡਕੇ ਹਰਕੀਰਤ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀBut except for two or three, no one was truly there for Harkirat (Hark).

ਸੱਚ ਇਕ ਲੁਕਾਈ ਬੈਠਾ ਹੈ ਦਿਲ ਮੇਰਾThis truth remain hidden in my heart:

ਮੈਂ ਹੀ ਸਭ ਦਾ ਪਰ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਮੇਰਾI am there for everyone, but no one is truly mine.
